HSA Development Academy
I would like to inform you that the HPFC/HSA Development Academy will begin on Friday, February 5th, 2010 at Starfire Sports complex. The sessions will take place on the Mod fields in front of Field 11. To begin with we will offer a ‘4-week’ Program.
- Cost: $10 pp - per session ($40 total) Players receive a Development Academy Tee-shirt)
- Who?: U7-U10 ages - Open but HSA kids a priority. This is an initial program and one which we wish to provide QUALITY over quantity as a priority. We do intend to expand the program as soon as possible to accommodate older age groups but we must first ensure that the best possible Coach Development is in place. Eventually we aim to have programs being delivered for U11 and older.
- When?: Every Friday for a 4-Week program starting in February 2010 – Families can register for one or more programs if desired. The Development Academy is to run throughout the year on a regular basis. It is not mandatory to register for more than one program though priority will be given to previously registered children (i.e. children on program 1 will be able to register for program 2 over children wishing to register for only program 2)
- Where?: Starfire Mod Fields
- Why?: Younger ages involved in ‘deliberate’ but ‘FUNdamental’ training as an introduction for younger kids to PDL level coaching (whether they continue at PDL level or not) or simply as a supplementary development program regardless of where they play
- Coaches: HPFC DOC & Existing HPFC & HSA coaches
- Coach Education: HPFC Coach Development Program
- Player Training: HPFC/HSA 12-month Progressive Age-Specific Curriculum
The schedule will be as follows:
- 5pm-6.30pm: U7 Boys & Girls (Field 10) & U8 Boys and Girls (Field 9)
- 6.30pm-8pm: U9 Boys & Girls (Field 10) & U10 Boys and Girls (Field 9)
Online registration will be posted to the HPFC website at www.hpfcpremier.com within the next few days. As part of the registration process we are requesting parents to attend a short presentation about what we will be coaching in the sessions and how we will go about teaching the kids within the program. An information packet will also be provided. The presentation will be held at 7pm on Wednesday the 3rd of February in the classroom at Starfire Sports Complex. Should your child attend the Academy you will also receive the Development Academy tee-shirt that they are expected to wear during the sessions. To stay up to date on the Academy please refer to the HPFC website at www.hpfcpremier.com Best regards,
Alex Weaver Director of Coaching Highline Premier FC

Ray Calls For Respect
http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/Respect/ Hollywood tough guy Ray Winstone shows his support for The FA's Respect Parent Guide to Youth Football
Winstone is here to promote The FA's new Respect Parent Guide after research showed that more than 7,000 youngsters had hung up their boots over the last couple of years due to pressure from the sidelines.
Winstone believes that parents need to lose the "win at all costs" attitude and bring some enjoyment back to the game: "Kids want their parents to watch them play football but they want to be supported by them, not embarrassed."
The FA Respect programme has already had a major breakthrough in the grassroots game with dissent figures showing an 8% improvement nationwide on last season's totals while 567 leagues have shown their support by becoming Respect Leagues.

Attitudes Are Contagious (Video)
Mass Youth Soccer has developed and produced an outstanding video focusing on the issues of sideline behavior of adults, and specifically on how that behavior is affecting the retention of qualified referees. While many have talked about the issue of adult sideline behavior, Mass Youth is the only organization to turn the talk into a valuable tool that teams, towns, clubs and leagues can put into immediate use to help curb the unwanted noise along the sidelines.
